The program is open to those 55 or older, and will be followed by  approximately 30 minutes of informal question and answer time.  Content will include an overview of available DSDHH services, a
20-minute captioned video on hearing loss called “Let’s Make it Clear,” and discussion of strategies to improve communication.

This event will include two separate presentations on understanding hearing loss and effective communication, and assistive technology. The last 30 minutes will be reserved for networking, and one on one question and answer with staff. Attendees may come to one, two, or all three presentations. Information covered will be helpful for anyone in the healthcare field (i.e. doctors, nurses, certified nursing assistants, skilled care facility staff), family, and professional caregivers.
This event will also be helpful for any person with hearing loss who might need to ask for communication access in healthcare settings.
All readers are encouraged to tell any healthcare
providers they know about this event.

The Mount Bethel Joy Senior Group has graciously opened the program to anyone interested.
Cynthia will explain what to do if people notice signs of hearing loss in themselves or someone they care for. She will also cover communication strategies, including tips for church activities. Finally, Cynthia will provide an overview of communication technology and services.
